NEW YORK (AFX) - Conde Nast Publications, publisher of Vogue, Allure and GQ magazines, said Wednesday it named Edward Menicheschi as vice president and publisher of its Vanity Fair publication, effective immediately.

Menicheschi is currently President of WWD Media Worldwide. He succeeds Alan Katz, who is leaving the company. The company said a successor for WWD Media Worldwide will be named soon.

"Edward is a seasoned professional and a highly regarded marketing executive who is also known for a wonderful sense of style in business," said CEO Charles H. Townsend. "He has extensive relationships across the global fashion, beauty, and entertainment communities which makes him well suited for this position at Vanity Fair."

Since 2001, Menicheschi has served as president of WWD Media where he oversaw Women's Wear Daily, WWD.com, DNR and Footwear News. Prior to joining Fairchild Publications, Menicheschi was president of IAM.COM, a talent search website serving the entertainment industry.

Menicheschi has held a variety of positions at Conde Nast, including positions at Vogue and GQ. Copyright 2006 Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be
