HOUSTON, Aug 15, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Actor Danny Glover is scheduled to be recognized by Houston's Ensemble Theatre as its "Lifetime Achievement" honoree for this year.
A press release from the organization says the 60-year-old actor will be honored at the theater's upcoming "Encore of Excellence -- 30 Years Strong & Growing" event Aug. 25-27 for his career on TV and film.
Also at the theater's event, which represents the launch of its 2006-07 production season, the group will honor Broadway star DeQuina Moore, Shell Oil Co. and Victoria Rowell of the "Young and the Restless" for their fine arts contributions to the area community.
Glover's expansive film career and community activism made him an ideal candidate for its 2006 "Lifetime Achievement" award, the release said.
The release cited his roles in influential works such as "The Color Purple" and TV's "Mandela," along with his work with the Vanguard Public Foundation and the U.N. Development Program.
