SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Salt Lake City is preparing to close an overflowing downtown homeless shelter that's been the scene of violence like a police shooting that critically injured a teenage refugee. But some are concerned about the ambitious plan to build a new shelter system with half the capacity. Mayor Jackie Biskupski said Tuesday the situation at the Road Home has become chaotic. He says programs will reduce the number of homeless people enough for the smaller shelters to hold everyone.
LOGAN, Utah (AP) — A former Utah State University football player who was dropped by the Atlanta Falcons over multiple sexual assault allegations has been ordered to remain jailed without bail. The Herald Journal in Logan reports that Torrey Green's request to be able to post bail was denied by a judge Tuesday during a court hearing in Logan. Torrey Green is charged with assaulting seven women after two new counts were filed against him last month.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A federal judge has issued a preliminary injunction against a Provo-based video-on-demand service accused of copyright violations. The Deseret News reports that on Monday, a Central District Court of California judge ruled that while the lawsuit against VidAngel is being decided, the streaming company must discontinue its video streaming.
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) — Police are looking for suspects in a fatal shooting outside a home in West Valley City. Police Lt. Steve Burke says a 20-year-old man was killed and a 32-year-old woman was injured in the shooting reported at about 11:30 p.m. Monday.
