SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A judge in Utah is ordering a University of Southern California football player to trial on rape and sodomy charges. A 19-year-old woman testified Monday that Osa Masina, whom she'd previously considered a friend, assaulted her after she passed out on a couch following a summertime party in suburban Salt Lake City.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Salt Lake City man accused of killing three people including a 2-month-old girl has been declared incompetent to stand trial. The Deseret News reports that two independent doctors came to the same conclusion about 33-year-old Alexander Hung Tran. He will be sent to the Utah State Hospital for more evaluations and all hearings about his case have been put on hold.

PROVO, Utah (AP) — The half brother of Utah's governor has been sentenced to prison after authorities say he sought a sexual liaison with an underage girl. Fifty-seven-year-old Paul Gordon Peters pleaded guilty last month to felony charges of enticing a minor and attempted sexual exploitation of a minor. Peters was arrested May 31 at a Provo convenience store where he thought he'd meet a teen girl for sex.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say a man has died after a small plane he was flying hit an electricity line near the tourist town of Moab, Utah. Grand County Sheriff's spokesman Rick Bailey said the crash occurred early Monday morning shortly after the pilot took off from the Canyonlands Field Airport near Moab. Bailey says the man was the only one aboard the single-engine plane.
