WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) — Police in West Valley City say they're searching for a man who stole a squad car after officers responded to a report of a disturbance. Salt Lake City TV station KSL reports that police were called to a home about 6 a.m. Sunday and encountered a man who told them that the officers should go inside the home where a disturbance was going on. The man then drove off in the officers' squad car.

LEHI, Utah (AP) — Many Utah public school teachers work second jobs to supplement low salaries. Granite School District spokesman Ben Horsley told the Salt Lake Tribune that Utah's teacher shortage can be tied to pay and hours that teachers are expected to accept.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Salt Lake County Deputy Mayor Lori Bays says she's resigning from her position as of Jan. 1. In an email to colleagues obtained by the Deseret News, Bays says she wants to return to a role where she can more directly partner with individuals and organizations in the community to improve lives. Bays submitted her resignation on Nov. 30. She says she'll be traveling over the holidays and will only be in the office until Dec. 9.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Salt Lake City woman has been charged with aggravated kidnapping in connection with the case of a missing man who police believe was murdered. KSL-TV reports that 37-year-old Allison Wells was charged Friday in 3rd District Court. Wells was one of five people arrested last month in the case of 38-year-old Jason Nakonechni. Salt Lake police believe Nakonechni was lured to a motel, attacked and later killed.
