BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho lawmakers have gathered in Boise to determine who will sit in the most coveted spots in the Statehouse. Committee chairmen wield tremendous influence in setting the tone of legislative sessions because they control the fate of most legislative proposals that come across their desk. The 24 committee positions, as well as member assignments, are determined every two years.
CODY, Wyo. (AP) — A man who crashed his pickup into a group of German motorcyclists heading to Yellowstone National Park, killing three, has pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor counts of vehicular homicide. The Cody Enterprise reports Manuel Defuentes, of Ontario, Oregon, entered his pleas Wednesday for the June 9 crash. The group was headed to Yellowstone from Cody when Defuentes' truck crossed the center line at a curve.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Officials at Zoo Boise say one of the three lions in the African Plains Exhibit is being treated for cancer and the prognosis is unclear. Officials announced Thursday that Jabari, a 14-year-old male, will not be outside in the public exhibit most days as he's treated for lymphoma.
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — An adult male grizzly bear has been killed in eastern Idaho and a $6,000 reward is being offered for information leading to whoever is responsible. Officials with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in a statement Wednesday say the bear was killed on or about Oct. 21 in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest in Fremont County.
