FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Authorities in North Carolina say a man pulled over on suspicion of drunken driving died after his arrest.
The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office says in a news release that 35-year-old Clarence Junior Young started having "medical complications" after he was pulled over and arrested Tuesday afternoon. He was pronounced dead at a hospital. The release gave no further details.
According to the release, Young initially refused to stop for deputies, who saw items being thrown from his car as they followed. When he did stop, deputies arrested Young for DWI and failure to stop for a blue light and siren. Officers found a handgun in the car they said he had illegally.
An autopsy will determine how he died.
