ST. HELENS, Ore. (AP) — Two elk were found shot and their bodies left to waste less than two weeks after two other elk were similarly poached elsewhere in Oregon.
The Oregon State Police says Wednesday the elk found dead this week were shot in Columbia County in the northwest corner of the state.
The ones killed Nov. 16 were shot in Union County, about 300 miles to the east.
Authorities are offering a reward of up to $1,000 in the latest poaching case.
The animals found dead were a cow elk and a five-point bull elk.
A reward of $500 is offered in the previous case, which involved two bull elk.
The OSP also is announcing the arrest of two men who are charged with illegally shooting a trophy buck in Wheeler County.
