That's according to the actor who delivered a lecture from the stage about equality after Friday's Broadway performance, which was attended by the vice president-elect. Brandon Victor Dixon told "CBS This Morning" that "there's nothing to apologize for." Donald Trump disagrees. In Chicago, a man was arrested the next day during a performance of "Hamilton." Fellow audience members say he shouted "We won!" and other election-related comments from the balcony.
CANNON BALL, N.D. (AP) — Dakota Access oil pipeline protesters and law officers have faced off again at a shut-down bridge on a state highway near the protesters' camp in southern North Dakota. The two sides clashed overnight, with protesters saying officers used tear gas, rubber bullets and water sprays and authorities saying protesters assaulted officers with rocks and burning logs.
FLORA, Ind. (AP) — A northern Indiana fire official says a police officer and a sheriff's deputy who responded to a house fire that killed four children tried to rescue the youngsters but were driven back by the flames and smoke. He says firefighters who arrived a short time later were able to remove the children from second-story bedrooms but could not revive them. The official says all four children were girls and they apparently died from smoke inhalation. Their mother was found downstairs and was hospitalized due to smoke inhalation. The officer and deputy who tried to rescue the children were also hospitalized.
NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stocks are rising, putting major indexes on track to close at record highs, as energy companies climb with the price of oil. Investors are hoping that OPEC countries will soon be able to finalize a deal that would cut oil production and help support prices.
NEW YORK (AP) — Kanye West has abruptly pulled the plug on his Saint Pablo Tour. This, a few days after making statements onstage about how he "would have voted for Donald Trump" and after a stormy weekend in which he abruptly canceled a show after four songs. A representative for the rapper says the remaining 21 dates of West's current tour have been canceled. No reason was given. Live Nation said tickets will be "fully refunded at point of purchase." On Friday, during a concert in San Jose, California, West said he didn't vote but would have cast a ballot for Trump, praising the president-elect's "method of communication" as "very futuristic."
