COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Two men accused of live-streaming a threat to shoot up their Ohio neighborhood if their video feed scored enough viewers have been sentenced to six months in a low-level correctional facility.
The Franklin County prosecutor says the men indicated over the Periscope app in February that they'd empty an AR-15 rifle clip in Columbus if the stream reached 100 viewers. The prosecutor says the men also handed the rifle to a toddler. Authorities say a concerned viewer contacted police, who used the live stream to find the men.
Yusuf Suliman Conteh and Damon Andrew Rosmond, both 21, pleaded guilty to charges including inducing panic and improperly handling a firearm.
The Columbus Dispatch (http://bit.ly/2g1fgxd ) reports prosecutors and defense attorneys had recommended four-year prison sentences with possible early release after a year.
