CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — A Casper man who caused another man's death by putting methamphetamine in his drink has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://goo.gl/DnmidQ ) Jon Freiberg was sentenced Tuesday for the August 2015 death of 46-year-old Richard Serafin. Freiberg previously pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and a drug charge, acknowledging he was reckless by not taking Serafin to a hospital when he showed signs of an overdose.

Investigators say Serafin died after Freiberg put meth in a cup Serafin was drinking from. Freiberg has said Serafin consumed the drugs accidentally.

An autopsy indicates Serafin died of cardiac arrest due to the stress of meth intoxication and other health issues.

Freiberg is a former campus supervisor at Dean Morgan Junior High.
