MIAMI (AP) — One of the Clinton administration's most recognizable and polarizing figures has died after battling Parkinson's disease. Janet Reno, the first woman U.S. attorney general, faced criticism for the deadly raid on the Branch Davidian compound at Waco, Texas as well as the seizure of Elian Gonzalez. Her goddaughter says she died at home. Reno was 78.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia city commuters can breathe a sigh of relief today with the announcement of a tentative agreement between SEPTA and striking workers. The system handles about 900,000 commuters a day and local officials were very concerned about the strike hindering people trying to go vote tomorrow.
MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump continues to hammer at Democrat Hillary Clinton over emails and claims that the election is rigged. With the cloud of an FBI investigation lifted, Clinton yesterday cast herself as the candidate of "healing and reconciliation" after days of attacking Trump's fitness for office. Both candidates campaign today in multiple states.
WOODRUFF, S.C. (AP) — The search for bodies is expected to continue in South Carolina today on a property where a woman was rescued after being found chained inside a metal storage container. The property is owned by Todd Kohlhepp, who has confessed to killing four people at a motorcycle shop in 2003. He's suspected in at least three other deaths and officials say the search has expanded to other properties.
BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) — Closing arguments are scheduled today in the Georgia trial of a man charged with murder after his toddler son, Cooper died in a hot car in 2014. Justin Ross Harris is charged with malice murder and other crimes. Prosecutors say Harris acted intentionally because he wanted to escape his family responsibilities. The defense says the death was a tragic accident.
