The son of prominent Israeli author David Grossman has been killed in combat in southern Lebanon, the army said Sunday, just days after the writer urged his government to reach a truce.

Uri Grossman, 21, was killed Saturday by an anti-tank rocket fired by Hezbollah fighters.

His death came just days after David Grossman and two other Israeli authors urged the government of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to reach a ceasefire agreement to end the conflict with Hezbollah.

David Grossman's books include "Yellow Wind" (1987), a nonfiction account of the Arab-Israeli conflict, and "The Smile of the Lambs". He has won numerous awards for his writing.
