Snowstorm hits western Wyoming

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The first big snowstorm of the season is hitting areas of western Wyoming, causing power outages and slick roads.

The National Weather Service posted a winter storm warning for the Wind River and Wyoming ranges where up to 16 inches of snow was possible. The town of Pinedale received 11 inches by Monday morning.

Snow covered Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park.

The Jackson Hole News & Guide reported (http://bit.ly/2dvibeS ) power outages in the region forced the Teton County School District to delay classes Monday at some schools where the power was out.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation reported slick and wet roads in the western half of the state.

In southeast Wyoming, winds gusting up to 70 mph caused problems for drivers and trucks.
