HAYDEN, Idaho (AP) — The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office has named the deputy who fatally struck a pedestrian with his patrol vehicle.

The Bonner County Daily Bee reports (http://bit.ly/2d7qfUB ) that Deputy Andrew Nye struck and killed 38-year-old Amber Viuhkola Saturday as she was walking across U.S. 95 in Hayden. There is no crosswalk or traffic signals in the area where the accident occurred.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Toxicology results are expected to be released in about three weeks.
