KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) — The strongest Atlantic hurricane since Felix in 2007 is headed toward Jamaica with 160 mph wind. Jamaicans have been busy stocking up on supplies and preparing to hunker down. Hurricane Matthew is roaring across the Caribbean Sea as a monster Category 5 storm on a course that also puts parts of Haiti and Cuba in danger.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — Some of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's supporters are shaking their heads at the latest sordid turn in the campaign. They worry that Trump's latest outburst could further hurt him among female voters. Trump is encouraging voters to check out a "sex tape" featuring a former beauty queen. Hillary Clinton's campaign is suggesting that a better rental Trump's cameo in an adult film.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The mood in Washington toward a key Asian ally is growing darker as the body count mounts in the Philippines' deadly war on drugs. Influential U.S. lawmakers are warning that the extra-judicial killings in the drug war — President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday compared it to the Holocaust — could affect American aid.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Mormons church leaders will be talking with thousands of members during a series of weekend conferences in Salt Lake City. More than 100,000 members of the faith are expected to attend five sessions. Thousands more will listen or watch around the world. The conference comes amid an intense presidential election in the U.S. and as members around the world grapple with the increasing needs of refugees.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Alaska is glowing brighter on the tourist map after a lean stretch. Growing consumer demand for Alaska cruises has put the state back in the million-passenger club as it rebounds. Next year is expected to be even better with larger capacity ships added to the Far North lineup. Overall visitor numbers also are growing, with a record of more than 2 million travelers in the state last year.
