HOBOKEN, N.J. (AP) — Federal transportation investigators are on the scene of today's commuter train crash in Hoboken, New Jersey, that killed one person and injured more than 100 others. A union roster says the man at the controls had 18 years of experience as an engineer and has worked for the transit agency for 29 years. The train barreled into the station, slammed a steel-and-concrete barrier, grinding to a halt in the 100-year-old station's waiting area.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump is denying a Newsweek report that he explored business opportunities in Cuba in the late 1990s, apparently in violation of the U.S. embargo. Trump told New Hampshire's NH1 News he "never did business in Cuba." Newsweek reports that the work was done by a consulting firm called Seven Arrows on behalf of Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts Inc. The magazine says Trump reimbursed the consulting firm for $68,000 of business expenses for its Cuba work.

JERUSALEM (AP) — Thousands of Israelis have been paying final respects to former president and prime minister Shimon Peres (shee-MOHN' PEHR'-ehs). They flocked to the country's parliament to view the casket of a man who, in a seven-decade political career, was credited with leading Israel though some of its most defining moments. Scores of world leaders, including President Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton, will attend Friday's funeral in Jerusalem.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California Gov. Jerry Brown has signed a bill requiring that all single-stall toilets in the state be designated as gender neutral. The measure requires that businesses and governments post non-gender-specific signs on single-occupant restrooms by March 1, 2017. Democratic Assemblyman Phil Ting of San Francisco said his legislation would establish the nation's most inclusive restroom-access law.

NEW YORK (AP) — Lady Gaga will headline the Super Bowl halftime show. So say NFL and Pepsi. The game will be held Feb. 5 at NRG Stadium in Houston. Gaga sang the national anthem at the Super Bowl this year in Santa Clara, California. Beyonce, Bruno Mars and Coldplay headlined the halftime show.
