WASHINGTON (AP) — The unemployment rate stands at 4.9 percent for the third straight month, after employers added a modest 151,000 jobs last month. It's about half of the sizeable gains of the two previous months. The weaker pace may make it less likely that the Federal Reserve will raise short-term interest rates at its next meeting later this month.

CARRABELLE, Fla. (AP) — Daylight is bringing the first clear picture of the effects of Hermine in Florida and Georgia, as the heavy rains from the tropical storm have moved into the Carolinas. Virtually all of South Carolina is under some sort of weather warning. Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum says three-quarters of the city homes and businesses don't have electricity. Another 30,000 residents in Georgia are also without power.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) —Hillary Clinton wants the government to have more clout to push back against massive price increases for long-existing drugs. She plans to roll out a proposal today. Her call follows the public outcry over steep increases in price for the EpiPen emergency allergy treatment.

CHICAGO (AP) — A top ally to Chicago's mayor says Rahm Emanuel is looking for police reinforcements after the city's deadliest month in decades. Alderman Pat O'Connor, Emanuel's floor leader in the Chicago City Council, says the mayor plans to hire "hundreds" more police officers.

SOUTHWEST RANCHES, Fla. (AP) — Police in Florida say a driver playing "Pokemon Go"ran afoul of a property owner with a gun. Authorities say the owner, a South Florida man who is a former police officer, drew a gun on a driver when he pulled into the man's driveway to play "Pokemon Go" on Aug. 12. The Sun Sentinel reports Jawad Awan says he didn't realize he was on private property. No charges have been filed.
