AMATRICE, Italy (AP) — An Italian bishop is denouncing the shoddy construction that is suspected to have caused the high death toll in last week's earthquake in central Italy. Speaking today at a state funeral for the victims in two hard-hit towns, the bishop read aloud the names of all 242 people killed in those two towns. And he said, "Earthquakes don't kill. What kills the most is the work of man."

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida voters are casting ballots today in a primary featuring two politicians hoping to hold onto their seats after this year's bruising presidential contest -- Republican Sen. Marco Rubio and Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. The primary also sets the field for a race that could determine whether Democrats regain control of the U.S. Senate. More than 1.75 million Floridians had already cast ballots by mail or at early-voting stations.

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) — Making a trip to Yellowstone National Park for the upcoming Labor Day weekend just got a little easier. The south entrance to the park is open again, after being closed for more than a week because of a wildfire in neighboring Grand Teton National Park. The closure forced visitors coming up from the popular Jackson Hole area in northwest Wyoming to take a detour, adding about an hour of drive time.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Singer Chris Brown is posting online videos declaring his innocence as police seek a warrant to search his Los Angeles home. They received a call from a woman outside the home, seeking assistance. In one Instagram video Brown, waving a cigarette and looking at the camera, says if and when police get the search warrant, they'll find nothing at the home. He dismissed TV reports that he was barricaded inside. Officials say detectives hope to talk to Brown, the woman, and any witnesses.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A former Virginia state lawmaker who was jailed in a sex scandal involving a 17-year-old girl may soon hold public office again. A poll finds Joseph Morrissey is the front-runner in the crowded race for mayor of Richmond. The poll from Christopher Newport University indicates Morrissey has support from 28 percent of the city's voters. Last year, he spent his days at the General Assembly and his nights in jail after entering an Alford plea to a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
