ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkish officials and state-run media say two car bombings targeting police stations in eastern Turkey have killed at least six people and wounded more than 200. One attack late Wednesday was on a police station in the eastern province of Van. Another bomb today hit police headquarters in the eastern Turkish city of Elazig. Authorities are blaming the attacks on the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, which has launched a campaign of car bombings.

RIO DE JANIERO (AP) — Brazilian authorities investigating a robbery reported by Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte and fellow swim team members have taken two of the swimmers off their flight before it left for the U.S. U.S. Olympic officials say Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz were taken off the flight last night. Brazilian officials say they and American swimmer James Feigan will be speaking to police today about the incident in which they say they were robbed at gunpoint in Brazil. Lochte is already back in the U.S.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Former NFL star Darren Sharper is scheduled to appear in federal court in New Orleans today to be sentenced for drugging and raping as many as 16 women in four states. Sharper was supposed to be sentenced in June, but the judge rejected a 9-year prison sentence prosecutors recommended under a plea deal. Sharper now faces a possible 15-to-20 years.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Twenty-two Missouri clergy members could face up to six months behind bars after being convicted Wednesday on trespassing charges and acquitted of other counts in connection with a peaceful 2014 protest over Medicaid expansion at the state Capitol. Jurors in Jefferson City found the clergy guilty of first-degree trespassing, a misdemeanor, but not guilty of charges of disrupting government operations. Sentencing is set for today. They also face fines of as much as $500 each

LONDON (AP) — Britain has unveiled a plan to battle rising child obesity by urging food manufacturers to cut down on sugar and getting primary schools to make students do more exercise. The government wants manufacturers to cut the amount of sugar in products popular with children, including cereals, candy and desserts, by 20 percent over five years. But health campaigners have slammed the government for failing to restrict junk food advertising aimed at children.
