WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is celebrating his final birthday in office with a night on the town.

Obama turned 55 on Thursday. He and his family are dining at the restaurant Fiola Mare on the Georgetown waterfront. The modern Italian seafood joint is a favorite of the Obamas.

Obama and his family are leaving the White House Saturday for their summer vacation. They'll spend about half of August on Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts.

Vice President Joe Biden wished Obama a happy birthday on Twitter and added a photo of "Joe" and "Barack" friendship bracelets.

Biden says of the president, "A brother to me, a best friend forever."
