Student from South Korea drowns near Maryville

MARYVILLE, Mo. (AP) — A 16-year-old student from Seoul, South Korea, has drowned at the Mozingo Lake Recreation Park in northwest Missouri.

Maryville public officials say Jae Won Lee, a first-year student at the Missouri Academy, drowned Monday night in the city-owned reservoir east of Maryville.

The Maryville Daily Forum reports (http://bit.ly/2aqetAw ) officials continue to investigate the drowning but no foul play is suspected.

The Missouri Academy is a two-year residential, early-college program on the Northwest Missouri State campus. It replaces the junior and senior years of high school.
