MIAMI (AP) — The CDC has issued a new advisory that says pregnant women should not travel to the so-called Zika "transmission area" in Florida. And it says pregnant women who live there should take steps to prevent mosquito bites and sexual spread of the virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued the advisory today after Florida Gov. Rick Scott said there are 10 new infections of the Zika virus likely transmitted by mosquitoes, bringing the total in the state to 14.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Among those denouncing Donald Trump's criticism of the parents of a Muslim U.S. Army captain killed in Iraq is the commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Brian Duffy says the nation's oldest and largest war veterans group won't tolerate anyone berating the family of a service member who died in action, simply because the family was exercising free speech.

NEW YORK (AP) — About three out of four Americans in a new survey say they think Donald Trump will further divide the country if he's elected. But doubts remain about Hillary Clinton's ability to unite as well. The survey released by The Associated Press and the N-O-R-C Center for Public Affairs Research found only about a third of people think Clinton, the Democratic nominee, would help unify the country. But that's twice the share received by Trump, the Republican nominee. Some 85 percent of people say they the U.S. is more politically divided than in the past.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Federal authorities say an Ohio man planned to attack the U.S. Capitol in support of the Islamic State group during President Barack Obama's 2015 State of the Union address. That timing was disclosed today during a hearing in Cincinnati, in which Christopher Cornell pleaded guilty to three federal charges, including offering material support to a foreign terrorist organization. The FBI arrested Cornell in January 2015 after they say he bought two military rifles and ammunition. They said previously he planned also to attack with pipe bombs.

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — The chief spokesman for the Rio Olympics says he can "guarantee" that the athletes taking part in the event will "compete in safety." He was responding today to the latest water study by The Associated Press, which found severe viral contamination in all outdoor aquatic venues. Some of the worst pollution is in the bay that will host the sailing competition. Rio dumps at least half of its untreated sewage into the water surrounding the city.
