CLEVELAND (AP) — A call for Republican Party unity after a bruising fight for the presidential nomination — that's the message Mike Pence plans to convey to GOP delegates when he gives his vice presidential acceptance speech at the convention tonight. Campaign officials offering a preview say Pence plans to make the case that he's prepared to govern.
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Secret Service is investigating a prominent Donald Trump supporter who said Hillary Clinton should be — quote — "shot for treason." A Secret Service spokesman says the agency is aware of comments made by New Hampshire state Rep. Al Baldasaro. A Trump campaign spokeswoman says Trump and his campaign don't agree with Baldasaro's remarks.
DALLAS (AP) — Southwest Airlines flights across the country were held up today while the airline worked to fix technical problems. Southwest began having intermittent problems with several systems after an outage. A spokesman says that systems are gradually coming back, but that it might take time before the airline can resume normal operations.
MIAMI (AP) — Health officials in Florida are investigating the Zika infection of a woman in the Miami area. They're trying to find out whether it's the first transmission of the virus from a mosquito bite in the continental United States. Health officials say the patient had no apparent links to recent travel outside the country.
DENVER (AP) — A federal judge in Denver is urging the State Department to give a gender neutral passport to a Colorado Navy veteran. Dana Zzyym (zihm) was denied a passport for refusing to check "male" or "female" on the application. Zzyym was born with ambiguous sexual characteristics and raised as a boy but later came to identify as intersex.
