LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police say a driver lost control of his pickup truck and died in a crash.
Authorities say the accident happened just after 3 a.m. Saturday on Jones Boulevard near Transverse Drive.
According to officers, the truck was speeding and failed to negotiate a curved roadway.
The pickup ran over a raised center median, went off the road and hit several boulders and trees.
The 23-year-old male driver was thrown of the vehicle and tumpled through a parking lot.
Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
Police say alcohol may have been a factor.
The crash remains under investigation.
The driver's identity has not been released.
The death marks the 55th traffic-related fatality this year for police.
