BRATISLAVA, Slovakia (AP) — Former Slovak President Ivan Gasparovic says he is battling colon cancer.
In comments published in the Novy Cas daily on Thursday, the 75-year-old says he has one more month of chemotherapy ahead of him.
Gasparovic says: "The results show I am on the way to recovery."
Gasparovic was the only president since Slovakia's independence in 1993 to be elected to two terms. He was first elected to the largely ceremonial post in 2004 and re-elected in 2009. His final term expired in 2014.
