WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama travels to Dallas today to help bring comfort to a devastated community following last week's shooting attack on police officers that killed five and wounded nine. Two civilians were also hurt. Obama will speak during a public memorial service. Former president George W. Bush will also be there. Just a few weeks ago, Obama traveled to Orlando, Florida to console the family members of the 49 people killed in a shooting rampage at a nightclub.
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) — Bernie Sanders is about to publicly endorse Democratic rival Hillary Clinton. The two will appear today at an event in New Hampshire, where Sanders beat Clinton in a 22-point landslide in the state's presidential primary. Today's appearance is at a high school in Portsmouth. Sanders' endorsement comes after weeks of negotiations between the Clinton and Sanders campaigns.
MILAN (AP) — Firefighters in southern Italy say at least a dozen people have been killed when two trains collided head-on in Puglia (POOL'-yuh). Italian news reports say the trains, each with four cars, collided near the town of Andria on a line with just a single track. A photo of the crash shows cars crumpled together and forced off the tracks at sharp angles. News reports say rescue workers are pulling victims from the rubble.
BAGHDAD (AP) — At least 12 people were killed today when a suicide car bomb ripped through an outdoor market in a Shiite-dominated district of Baghdad. Officials say another 37 people are wounded. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but it's suspected that it was carried out by the Islamic State group.
DETROIT (AP) — Small SUVs for 2016 and 2017 did poorly during new headlight tests done by the insurance industry. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says none of the 21 SUVs it tested earned its highest ranking. The Ford Escape, Honda CR-V, Hyundai (HUN'-day) Tucson and Mazda CX-3 did the best.
