MECHANICSVILLE, Md. (AP) — Police in Maryland say seven people were injured after a car and an Amish buggy collided.

Maryland State Police say the crash happened around 12:30 a.m. Saturday on Maryland Route 6 in Mechanicsville. The buggy was traveling on the shoulder of westbound Route 6 and a car was also traveling westbound. State Police say the buggy attempted to turn, the two vehicles collided and the buggy overturned.

State Police say all seven people inside the buggy, two adults and five children, were thrown from the vehicle. They were taken to the hospital. The horse pulling the buggy was also hurt. The driver of the car and a passenger were treated at the scene and released.

An investigation is ongoing.
