COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — The city of Coeur d'Alene is drastically reducing its drug testing policies for potential new hires.
The Coeur d'Alene Press (http://bit.ly/29oiEvr ) reports that the northern Idaho city decided earlier this week that it no longer needed across-the-board screening. However, certain positions will still require drug testing, particularly for positions requiring a commercial driver's license.
The policy has been in place since 1995.
Human Resources Director Melissa Tosi says that the city has had very few potential hires fail a drug test over the years.
Coeur d'Alene is just 20 miles away from Washington's state border, where recreational marijuana was recently legalized.
