DALLAS (AP) — A Dallas woman has pleaded guilty in federal court to making phony calls to several university and city police departments in which she claimed to be injured.
The Dallas Morning News (http://bit.ly/29uxzH0 ) reports that 23-year-old Tameira Janell Smith pleaded guilty Thursday after being charged last year with three counts of making harassing telephone calls.
Court documents show that the former Texas Woman's University student athlete usually wasn't close to the schools or cities she was calling, such as Eugene, Oregon; Louisville, Kentucky; or Toronto.
Smith was released after her arrest in October and ordered to undergo mental health treatment. But in a hearing last month, it was determined she had violated these terms after she was arrested at a local hospital and charged with assault.
