SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah (AP) — Authorities have identified a Utah corrections officer whose leg was severed when his motorcycle collided with a car.
The Daily Herald reports (http://bit.ly/29hL39r ) that Utah Department of Corrections spokeswoman Brooke Adams confirms that Sgt. Daniel Erickson was involved in the Thursday morning crash in Saratoga Springs.
Erickson has worked with the department since 2008.
Utah County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Spencer Cannon says Erickson was flown to a hospital in Murray with one leg broken and the other severed.
Forensics officers took blood draws at the crash scene. Cannon says this could be a precaution or could indicate a suspicion that alcohol or drugs were involved.
The condition of the other driver is unknown.
