BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Authorities say a 53-year-old man who exchanged gunfire with Boise police died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Ada County Coroner's Office says an autopsy on Wednesday found Alan Amundson of Kuna shot himself and listed the manner of death as suicide.

Authorities say a police officer struck in the chest during the Tuesday evening confrontation was likely saved by his bulletproof vest. He was treated and released at a hospital.

Authorities say another man shot before police arrived is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Police say they responded to a 911 call shortly after 11:30 p.m. near Bridlewood Circle and North Glenwood Street and that a man standing outside the residence fired at officers.
