The National Ability Center in Park City, Utah empowers individuals of all abilities by building self-esteem, confidence, and lifetime skills through sport, recreation, and educational programs. They offer activities seasonally and year-round including skiing, snowboarding, horseback riding, swimming, archery, cycling, and many water sports. Instruction is provided by certified instructors and complemented by trained interns and volunteer assistants. More than 1,000 volunteers contribute over 23,000 hours annually. Many of the instructors and volunteers have disabilities and serve as role models for participants. Individuals of all ages and abilities can take part in the National Ability Center’s programs. Specially-designed adaptive equipment is available for many of the activities to enable participants to enjoy each activity successfully. In an attempt to eliminate isolation of individuals with disabilities, friends and family members are encouraged to participate. Visit discovernac.org to get involved. SelectHealth recognizes the inclusive programming provided by the National Ability Center as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
