COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — Authorities say a Washington state man from Spokane has died in a small plane crash in a remote area of northern Idaho.
The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office in a statement Sunday says a passer-by driving through the area at about 3 p.m. Saturday spotted airplane wreckage off the road and alerted authorities.
Officials say a deputy arrived at the scene and confirmed that the pilot and sole occupant was dead in the plane.
Officials have not released the man's name.
Officials say the scene was secured overnight and the National Transportation Safety Board plans to resume investigating Sunday.
