Jefferson County teacher charged with sexual abuse

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (AP) — A high school teacher in Jefferson County has been accused of having sexual relations with two female students.

Citing a criminal complaint, The Journal (http://bit.ly/28PyC6v ) reports that 29-year-old Joel Ziler has been charged with two felony counts of sexual abuse by a person in a position of trust and one count of solicitation of a minor via computer.

According to the complaint, Ziler engaged in sexual encounters with the 17-year-old girls at his home in Berkeley County. The complaint also states Ziler solicited nude photos from one of the girls.

Jefferson County Schools stated in a news release that Ziler was hired as a music teacher and choral director.

He is free on a bond of $80,000. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
