BROOKLINE, Mass. (AP) — State public health officials have confirmed a case of tuberculosis at a Brookline child care center.
The Public Health Department says in a statement that the case is connected to the Tiny World Child Care center. The agency did not say whether the disease was confirmed in a child or an adult.
Anyone who might have been exposed has been notified, and testing is being offered. Positive results will be followed up with evaluation and recommendation for treatment to prevent development of active TB.
Tiny World Child Care has not responded to requests for comment.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says TB is bacteria that usually attack the lungs and is potentially fatal if not treated properly.
