NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A 15-year-old boy has been charged with stabbing his aunt to death and trying to kill his mother, who ran to a neighbor's home with a neck wound.

Nashville police say the teenager was charged Tuesday in juvenile court with murder and attempted murder.

A police statement said the boy was arrested without incident in the family's kitchen after his 37-year-old mother was stabbed and ran for help. His 46-year-old aunt was found dead in her bedroom; the statement says the teen and his aunt had been arguing.

Police say the teen's grandmother slept through it all and two young children were unharmed.

The Associated Press doesn't typically name juveniles charged with crimes.
