CENTRALIA, Wash. (AP) — After a student crashed his bike and received several head trauma, a parent group has provided nearly 200 students at a Centralia elementary school with new helmets.
Calah Huffman with the Parent Teacher Organization says that after the bike crash, the group wanted to make sure every child had a helmet.
The Chronicle of Centralia reports that the students received shiny, new red helmets last week after a safety assembly the Riverside Fire Authority's Assistant Chief Rick Mack.
The group raised more than $1,500 for the effort.
