LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Flags are flying at half-staff in Muhammad Ali's hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, on the day after his death.

A makeshift memorial is growing outside the city's Muhammad Ali Center, with hand-written signs that say things like, "Rest in Power, Champ."

Flowers and signs are also piling up outside the little pink house on Grand Avenue that was Ali's boyhood home. Someone left a set of boxing gloves near a marker designating the house a historical site.

Cars lined both sides of the street for blocks Saturday morning and dozens of fans walked around in the rain.

Speaking to mourners on the steps of City Hall, Mayor Greg Fischer said, "Muhammad Ali belongs to the world, but he only has one hometown."

The boxing great died Friday night in Arizona after being hospitalized with respiratory problems. He was 74.
