DETROIT (AP) — An 87-year-old woman is set to graduate from the Wayne County Community College District.
The Detroit News (http://detne.ws/1TOikWj ) reports that according to college officials, 87-year-old Ruby Watson Parker is the oldest graduate in the history of the college. Commencement is being held Saturday morning at Ford Field in Detroit. Parker says she's looking forward to getting her nursing associate degree.
Years ago, Parker started taking classes at Wayne County Community College, intending to become a registered nurse. She says she later trained with another school. She became a licensed practical nurse. Her retirement came in 1992.
Parker learned not too long ago that she had enough credits from the Wayne County Community College District to graduate.
