SCHERERVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say a northwestern Indiana teacher was killed when he dove headfirst into a friend's swimming pool.
Schererville police say 43-year-old Robert Ochs hit his head on the pool's bottom during a gathering Sunday evening. The Lake County coroner's office says he suffered blunt force trauma.
Lake Central schools Superintendent Larry Veracco tells The (Munster) Times (http://bit.ly/20TbhQ4 ) that Ochs was a math teacher at Clark Middle School in St. John. He previously taught at Lake Central High School and coached football.
Veracco says Ochs was a good man who influenced many students over the years.
