ARKADEPHIA, Ark. (AP) — The director of the Arkansas Department of Higher Education is leaving his post to become a vice president at Henderson State University.
The university announced Monday that Brett Powell will become its vice president for finance and administration on Aug. 1. Powell has served as the Department of Higher Education director since last year.
Powell previously served as vice president for administrative services at Ouachita Baptist University and as associate vice chancellor for finance at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He earned his doctoral degree in higher education administration from UALR.
The Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board is expected to begin a search soon for Powell's replacement.
