SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The estranged husband of a well-known Salt Lake City restaurateur and LGBT advocate who died in a house fire over the weekend has been arrested on suspicion of murder and arson. Craig Crawford was booked after the blaze on Sunday killed 72-year-old John Williams. Court records show the fire occurred less than three weeks after Williams filed for divorce from Crawford and sought a temporary restraining order that was rejected.
FARMINGTON, Utah (AP) — A father and son accused in a bizarre Utah kidnapping will remain jailed without bail as authorities investigate if they were involved with the death of a rail line worker whose body was found in Wyoming. Flint Wayne and Dereck James Harrison made their first Utah court appearances Monday in a court room in Farmington. A state judge decided to extend the no bail arrangement until future hearings.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Officials at a Utah high school evacuated after a bomb threat amid a wave of similar threats around the country say they've found no evidence of explosives. Murray High School officials said in a statement Monday that they sent students home and cleared the school outside Salt Lake City in a three-hour search using bomb-sniffing dogs.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico is the first state to sue the federal government and the owners of two mines over the release of 3 million gallons of toxic wastewater from a Colorado mine. The federal lawsuit says the environmental effects of last year's spill are far worse than claimed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. New Mexico wants to be paid back for its response to the disaster and receive funding for long-term monitoring, lost revenue and other costs
