DALLAS (AP) — A 15-year-old Dallas boy who accidentally shot himself in the leg while at school has been charged with taking a weapon to a prohibited place.
Dallas Independent School District police on Wednesday announced the boy had been arrested and charged with the felony count. Chief Craig Miller described the May 2 incident as a security breach.
Kimball High School was locked down following the gunfire blamed on the student who allegedly got the pistol from his home. The boy was treated at a hospital for a wound not considered life-threatening.
The name of the student, who was arrested Monday, was not released. Further details on the investigation were not immediately available.
Police have not said why they believe the boy carried the gun to school.
