CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Thunderstorms in South Texas that dumped up to a foot of rain have led to flood-related rescues in Corpus Christi and sewage spilled into a creek.
No injuries were reported Monday in Corpus Christi, where emergency management officials reported high-water rescues from vehicles and low-lying areas.
National Weather Service forecaster Penny Zabel (ZAY'-bel) says the area has received 10 to 12 inches of rain since Sunday. Zabel says it could rain in Corpus Christi all week.
A city statement says flooding caused about 400,000 gallons of untreated sewage to flow from a wastewater line into La Volla Creek. Corpus Christi officials say the creek water will be tested for pollution.
A flash flood warning Monday covered parts of Aransas (uh-RAN'-suhs), Nueces (nyoo-AY'-sis), San Patricio and Refugio (ray-FYOO'-ee-oh) counties.
