QUETTA, Pakistan (AP) — A provincial official says a bomb has exploded in the parking area of a state-run university in southwestern Pakistan, killing two police officers and wounding five people.

Sarfraz Bugti says police are trying to determine who planted the bomb that went off Tuesday near the Baluchistan university in the city of Quetta, the provincial capital.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the bombing.

Quetta is the capital of Baluchistan and has long been the scene of a low-level insurgency by Baloch separatist groups. Islamic militants also operate in the province.
