WASHINGTON (AP) — As he prepares for a meeting later this week with House Speaker Paul Ryan, Donald Trump isn't echoing the harsh assessment of Ryan that was issued yesterday by a prominent Trump supporter, Sarah Palin. She was reacting to Ryan's refusal to immediately endorse Trump when she told CNN that Ryan will soon meet the same fate as Eric Cantor, the GOP House majority leader who was defeated in a Virginia primary two years ago. Trump today said simply that Palin is "very much a free agent."
FORT MCMURRAY, Alberta (AP) — Authorities in Alberta, Canada, will be sending a team into the town of Fort McMurray today to start planning for the return of the tens of thousands of people who fled the community amid a massive wildfire. Cooler temperatures are in the forecast for the next three or four days, and firefighters are hoping to be able to put out hot spots. There's not yet any timeline for allowing residents to return home.

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — The only winner that's been identified from Saturday night's $430 million Powerball drawing is the 7-Eleven store in Trenton, New Jersey, that sold the single winning ticket. The store gets a prize, but the amount hasn't yet been announced. Still no word on who won the jackpot.
