Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death to children in the U.S., but the correct use of child safety seats and safety belts can save lives and prevent injuries. The Utah Safety Council’s Buckle Up For Love program helps protect Utah’s most precious resource – our children. They provide car seat education, a way to report unbuckled children, and free car seat inspections. If you observe an unbuckled child in a moving vehicle, you can report the incident at 800-877-KIDS. Owners of reported vehicles receive a friendly reminder about the importance of buckling up children each time they ride in a vehicle. This doesn’t involve law enforcement and is confidential. The Utah Safety Council also has a certified car seat tech¬nician to ensure your car seat is installed correctly. One-on-one appointments explain proper selection of a car seat and help you become confi¬dent when installing one. Free Buckle Up For Love materials and information are available at www.utahsafetycouncil.org. SelectHealth recognizes the life-saving information provided by the Utah Safety Council as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
