Speaking to thousands at an NAACP dinner in Detroit, Clinton says "we cannot let Barack Obama's legacy fall into Donald Trump's hands."
WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican front-runner Donald Trump is urging his party to unite behind his candidacy. But he says he thinks he'll win anyway. Rivals Ted Cruz and John Kasich remain in the GOP race and are hoping to force a contested convention by denying Trump a majority of delegates. Indiana's crucial primary is Tuesday. If Trump wins it, he'll cement his commanding lead.
KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) — Police in Jamaica say two U.S. missionaries have been found slain in a rural area of the Caribbean island that is struggling with high rates of violent crime. They have been identified by police as 48-year-old Randy Hentzel and 53-year-old Harold Nichols. They worked for a Pennsylvania-based religious organization called Teams for Medical Missions.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Social justice activists are making their voices heard in cities around the country. In New Hampshire, they made the rejection of racism, xenophobia and anti-Muslim sentiment the themes of their annual May Day Rally for Immigrant Justice. Large May Day events also took place in Portland, Oregon, and in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland and Seattle.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus is bidding farewell to its performing elephants. Shows today in Rhode Island and Pennsylvania closed its own chapter on a practice that has entertained U.S. audiences for two centuries but came under fire by animal rights activists. The animals will live at Ringling's 200-acre Center for Elephant Conservation in Florida.
