PIKETON, Ohio (AP) — Law enforcement officials say they've met with relatives of eight family members who were fatally shot at homes in rural Ohio. Each victim was shot in the head. Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine says it's still unknown how many killers were involved. Pike County Sheriff Charles Reader says more than 30 people have been interviewed as part of the investigation.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The sheriff of Carver County, Minnesota, is promising to "leave no stone unturned" in his investigation of the unexpected death of Prince. The 57-year-old music super star was found dead in his suburban Minneapolis compound on Thursday. An autopsy was performed Friday. Sheriff Jim Olson says authorities will "make sure the public knows what happened."
CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago police are reviewing officers' use of force in a 2011 robbery. Two officers have been stripped of their powers pending the outcome of an investigation. It's part of Mayor Rahm Emanuel's pledge to change how police-involved shooting and misconduct cases are handled after the fatal shooting of a black teenager who was shot 16 times by a white officer in 2014.
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The mayor of New Orleans is trying to stem the violence in his city with new gun-control measures. Mayor Mitch Landrieu and City Council members introduced the proposed ordinance today. It includes a requirement that stolen and lost guns are promptly reported to police. New Orleans has struggled for years with a high murder rate, shootings and robberies.
UNDATED (AP) — A solar-powered airplane is now beyond the halfway point for the final leg of its around-the-world journey. It's high above the Pacific Ocean en route to a stop in Northern California. The Solar Impulse 2 took off from Hawaii on Thursday morning and is expected to arrive in the San Francisco Bay area by Saturday evening. Bertrand Piccard is at the controls.
